Oh, my! If this is True?
No wonder Chávez has been so vocal on behalf of the FARC. He killed Reyes with his phone call, if this is to be believed.

A “senior Colombian intelligence source” claimed that Colombia was able to pinpoint FARC chief Raul Reyes’ location because of a phone call made to his satellite phone by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Weirder and Weirder
I have absolutely no idea what to make of this. I don't find it hard to believe, but at the same time I have been waiting for something to come up that would create a greater sense of crisis before the election in the fall. This is one of those things that I would watch for the "Wag the Dog" Effect from our goverment.

Counterterrorism Blog: FARC Fallout: Assessing Dirty Bomb Claims:
Among the more explosive revelations from the laptops of the late FARC leader Raul Reyes is the allegation that the FARC was trafficking in radioactive materials and according to Colombia’s Vice President was planning to build a “dirty bomb.”

South America at War?
I find it very weird, the rhetoric coming out of South America. First you have a raid in Ecuador on a F.A.R.C. base killing 23. Then you get the President of Ecuador calling it a massacre of civilians. Then you have the opportunist Chavez jumping into the middle of this siding with Ecuador and sending 6000 troops to the border with Columbia. With the type of money floating around the F.A.R.C. from it's drug activities. I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't been giving money to both Ecuador and Venezuela so that they could use their countries as staging areas for their operation in Columbia.
One of the men killed, acording to the BBC, was one of the Farc's head negotiators and one of the most senior members of the Farc to be killed was Raul Reyes. According to the Columbian, Reyes has connections with the Velezuelian and Ecuadorian governments.

Bhutto
I saw this and if it is true, can we trust anything that Pakastan does or is involved in with us?

Counterterrorism Blog: Renegade Commando Units Possibly Involved in Bhutto KillingA working theory... is that Al Qaeda or affiliated jihadist groups had effectively suborned at least one unit of Pakistan's Special Services Group, the country's equivalent of Britain's elite SAS commandos. . . .

Desertion Rate
In a lot of ways this does not surprise me that desertion rates are so high.

U.S. Navy Fights Pirates Off E. Africa
Oh, for the times when you could get Letters of marque and Prize Courts. I've felt for some time that if you really want to get Piracy under control revive this old way of dealing with the current problem. Last year there were 261 reported acts of Piracy world wide. Hell their were 7 report acts for the week of March 7-13. Check out the ICC's Weekly Priacy Report to see the type of problem it is.

A Question of War Powers
This Administration is one of the most arrogant and incompetent Administrations in are history. Daschle's article in WaPo: Congress Denied Bush War Powers in U.S. just shows how incompetent they are. Did they not reallies that once they made a claim that they had plenary power that they would ignite a firestorm?

And the Punches keep on coming
Just when you think that things can't get any weirder Think Progress has this story on his website: Conservative Judge Argues Bush Adminstration Can’t Be Trusted With Power I just am at a loss as to how everything that this administration has touched is coming apart at the seams all at once. All having to deal with how it welds its power in a dictatorial manner.
Take the time and read this story which revolves around Padilla's detention.
