I think I'm on the fence with this issue - on the surface it sounds scary and an invasion of privacy... but, then again, it sounds like a potentially good idea for keeping kids safe...

Ah, but here is the rub. You start with tracking of your children and get them to think that nothing is wrong with that. Then you place it in other needed Id. Now you are being tracked. And then anyone with a receiver, and they're not that hard to make, could find out the info on that chip and either do identity theft or track you through receivers in your environment. You don't expect the government to track you or keep records of your daily activities. If it was, you would think it wrong.

You do not have a right in the constitution to a safe and controlled life, only liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Not a guarantee of safety. And if you are willing to give our hard won freedoms away so easily, you deserve neither liberty nor happiness. Because the overlord looking after you will not care as long as he gives you the perception of security, you will not raise alarm as your freedoms are taken from you in the name of security. How often in history has this been the case? As they say: "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance."
